Today is the third annual National Voter Registration Day, sponsored by the National Association of Secretaries of State and nonprofit organizations. Volunteers will be in public locations such as transportation hubs, stores, and sports and entertainment venues to register new voters and help those already on the rolls update their addresses, names, and other information. Eligible citizens can also go online to register or update their voter registrations here.
In the first two years, more than 1,000 groups participated in National Voter Registration Day, with 10,000 volunteers registering more than 360,000 people to vote.
Pew is committed to improving the efficiency and accuracy of state voter registration lists by facilitating coordination among states to update voter rolls. Pew also advocates for increasing the availability of online voter registration and improving state motor voter programs.
