IL: Illinois legal weed first day sales top M
Customers spent almost $3.2 million on legal weed in Illinois on the first day of recreational marijuana sales, marking one of the strongest showings of any state in the history of pot legalization. Illinois is the 11th state to legalize recreational weed, and only Oregon had a comparable first-day performance.

NH: New Hampshire adds nonbinary “X” option to licenses
New Hampshire residents now have a third option for indicating gender on their driver’s licenses and state-issued identification cards: “X” for people who don’t identify as male or female. Republican Gov. Chris Sununu allowed a bill making the change to become law without his signature. At least a dozen other states have similar laws.
NJ: New Jersey approves millions for Planned Parenthood after Trump abortion rule
New Jersey will provide $9.5 million more in state taxpayer money to clinics such as Planned Parenthood to make up for federal funding they forfeited by opposing an abortion rule from the Trump administration. Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signed the bill into law.
MO: Missouri governor’s stance on gambling at odds with state highway patrol
At the same time investigators in his own administration are working to stamp out the spread of unregulated and untaxed slot machines in Missouri, GOP Gov. Mike Parson said he’s not convinced the terminals are illegal.
