The Alaska Senate passed a bill that would allow the state and tribes to begin work on education compacting. In tribal education compacting, tribes can tailor their students’ education to their own needs and hopefully address low rates of graduation and attendance among Alaska Native students.

MA: Massachusetts governor defends administration against criminal justice criticism

MO: Missouri House wants to spend M on ports

NE: Nebraska lawmakers reject criminal justice changes

TN: Judges block Tennessee state Senate redistricting plan

AR: Judge orders Arkansas AG to release documents related to transgender issues

Attorneys with the American Civil Liberties Union won their fight to obtain some 4,500 emails from the Arkansas attorney general’s office pertaining to transgender issues. Attorneys for the state have tried to keep the emails under wraps in a challenge to a transgender health care ban the legislature passed last year.
