Pew Supports Proposed Washington State Seabed Mining Ban

On March 17, 2021, The Pew Charitable Trusts testified before the Washington House of Representatives Rural Development, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Committee in support of S.B. 5145, which would prohibit seabed mining for hard minerals in state waters. Pew emphasized the risks that such activities pose and commended legislators for acting to protect marine habitat, coastal communities, and cultural resources.
