NY: New York AG aims to protect unaccompanied migrants
The federal government is denying permanent residence applications for unaccompanied immigrant youths based on a misinterpretation of state law, New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood argued in a brief filed in federal court.
CT: Connecticut law bars Trump insurance plans, official says
The Connecticut Insurance Department has determined state law prohibits the sale of skimpy “short term” plans that are being promoted by President Donald Trump as a cheaper alternative to Affordable Care Act coverage. A review of the new Trump administration rules for short-term plans require any of these policies sold in the state to cover the ACA’s comprehensive “essential health benefits.”
WI: Wisconsin AG calls on agencies to reduce fees for open records requests
Wisconsin’s attorney general wants local and state government agencies to more accurately reflect the costs of fulfilling open records requests, saying they cannot make a profit when charging requesters for documents. The state’s office of transparency said it had seen a “noticeable and concerning increase in inquiries pertaining to high cost.”
