Pew Appoints Priya Bery as Senior Vice President for Partnerships
WASHINGTON—The Pew Charitable Trusts announced today that Priya Bery will join the organization as senior vice president for partnerships, effective Nov. 29. In this role, Bery will work with Pew’s leadership team to develop large-scale collaborations with partners that share the goal of making a positive difference for the public. She will also oversee fundraising initiatives that complement and increase the impact of investments from the Pew family trusts.
Bery joins Pew after serving as chief executive officer of the Tarsadia Foundation, a family foundation that focuses on investing in food and housing security, and on building inclusive economies for women and marginalized communities and advancing mental health and well-being.
“Priya is deeply committed to social change, and I look forward to welcoming her to Pew. I know she will increase our impact by inspiring new partners to join us in creating meaningful, long-term collaborations that make a difference,” said Sue Urahn, Pew’s president and chief executive officer.
“Pew’s sterling reputation for fact-based, nonpartisan research and recommendations is well known and well deserved,” Bery said. “I look forward to working with the entire team to explore new areas for collaboration with philanthropic partners who share our passion for creating meaningful, durable change on some of the most pressing issues of our time.”
Bery has a strong track record of incubating funding collaboratives and fostering partnerships across public and private sectors. Before leading the Tarsadia Foundation, she was president and chief executive officer of Soho Impact, a foundation that works to reinvent education through creativity. Bery also served as vice president for purpose and social entrepreneurship at TOMS and previously worked at Virgin Unite, where she helped incubate social investments and leadership initiatives. During her early career, she spearheaded the business response to the global AIDS pandemic with U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Richard C. Holbrooke and served as a legislative correspondent for former U.S. Senator Carl Levin (D-Michigan).
Bery received a master’s degree in policy and management from Harvard University’s School of Public Health and a bachelor’s degree in biopsychology and cognitive science from the University of Michigan.
