Emily Owen is a manager with Pew’s protecting coastal wetlands and coral reefs project, which aims to protect coastal habitats by leveraging opportunities within the Paris Agreement. Previously, she managed the Pew Bertarelli Ocean Legacy’s Easter Island campaign, which supported the creation of the 720,000-square-kilometer Rapa Nui Marine Protected Area.
Before joining Pew, Owen lived for 10 years in Chile, where she did environmental work for nongovernmental organizations and the private sector. Her experience in conservation planning and campaigning has focused on combining science, natural resource management strategies, and community stewardship to protect unique biodiversity and ecosystems.
Owen holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies-Conservation Biology from Middlebury College.
