Pew Testifies on Need to Modernize National Flood Insurance Program

Velma Smith, senior officer in government relations with The Pew Charitable Trusts’ flood-prepared communities initiative, testified before the House Committee on Financial Services on March 13. Smith spoke about the importance of modernizing the National Flood Insurance Program to make it financially solvent, prevent an increasing number of communities from being repeatedly flooded, and promote the use of natural resources to act as storm barriers.
