PROFILE

Rachel Zetts is a senior officer with Pew’s state health solutions project, which works with policymakers to narrow health disparities, reduce health care costs, and reach better outcomes by improving how data is used. The project helps states to establish data partnerships between state public health departments and state Medicaid agencies that can leverage the health information they already have to improve the quality of care. Zetts also works with Pew’s antibiotic resistance project, which supports efforts to spur the discovery of new antibiotics and ensure that these drugs are prescribed appropriately. Her work focuses on research and developing strategies and policies that will improve stewardship of antibiotics in hospitals, doctors’ offices, and other health care settings.

A longtime member of Pew’s antibiotic resistance project, Zetts has written about and lectured on the need for increased antibiotic stewardship and solutions for a broken antibiotic development pipeline. Her work has been published in JAMA, Pediatrics, and Health AffairsBlog.

Zetts holds a bachelor’s degree in international affairs and a master’s of public health in epidemiology from the George Washington University.
