PROFILE

Lauren Spurrier leads Pew’s work to conserve environmentally important ecosystems across the globe—including public lands in the western United States, Canada’s boreal forest, Australia’s Outback, and Chile’s Patagonia region—as well as efforts to protect coastal wetlands and coral reefs.

Before joining Pew, Spurrier worked at the World Wildlife Fund leading strategic initiatives to conserve the world’s oceans and managing major conservation efforts in the Caribbean and Latin America, including the Galapagos and Northern Andes. She also previously worked for the Peace Corps and the Inter-American Foundation.

Spurrier holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Saint Olaf College and a master’s degree in international development from American University.
