PROFILE

Dawn Borg Costanzi supports Pew’s international fisheries project by helping regional stakeholders coordinate their efforts with the aim of deterring illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing. In doing so, she works with states and external partners to foster collaboration, adopt robust policies, facilitate the exchange of information, and enhance collective capacity for effective enforcement and compliance.

Before joining Pew, Borg Costanzi worked for the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), where she helped design and develop the Global Record of Fishing Vessels, a critical information tool in the fight against illegal fishing. She also facilitated the creation of online questionnaires to monitor the application of the FAO’s Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries. Borg Costanzi led a large-scale information management project for the Maltese Fisheries and Aquaculture Department and was data manager for vessel monitoring systems at Malta’s National Fisheries Monitoring Center.

Borg Costanzi holds a bachelor’s degree in information technology from the University of Malta.
