Student chef Anfernee Anderson was part of the Westside Tech Center's winning team at the 2014 Cooking Up Change competition in Orlando, FL. Anderson loves nutritious food, and knows school lunches can help introduce kids to healthy recipes that they will enjoy. His team created a menu consisting of beef empanadas, Tex-Mex Fries, and a fruit salad.

In the fight against childhood obesity and other chronic health problems, schools across the country are finding the right recipes for meals that meet nutrition standards and student tastes. Anderson hopes to keep learning about healthier cooking and adapting recipes to help students thrive at school.
