Ten Facts About Internet Access in Philadelphia

Recent polling by The Pew Charitable Trusts' Philadelphia research initiative shows that the percentage of city residents who have Internet access has been growing, due mainly to wider availability and affordability of mobile phones that can connect users to the Internet. Polls taken over three time periods (February 2011, January 2012, and July and August 2013) show that 82 percent of Philadelphians have personal Internet access, compared to 76 percent in 2011.

More on the data: These results come from random-sample polls of Philadelphia residents age 18 or older taken in February 2011, January 2012, and July-August 2013. In each poll, adults were interviewed by landline telephone or cell phone. The margin of error was +/- 2.5 percentage points.
