MEASURING ELECTION PERFORMANCE

To capture a clear national picture of how well states are administering elections, Pew created the Elections Performance Index, the first interactive tool of its kind to allow users to quickly and easily analyze the voter experience across states, years, and categories of information. The index relies on 17 objective indicators of election performance, including turnout, voting wait times, and the availability of online voter registration.

States can receive technical assistance from Pew to create their own tailored election data projects that promote evidence-based decision-making in election administration. These projects allow states to assess their data quality, transparency, collection, and reporting systems.
