Case Study: Changing the Menu in Chicago

May 23, 2011

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) represents the third-largest school district in the country, serving 400,000 students in more than 600 schools. In an effort to improve the quality of foods served in its schools, CPS debuted new breakfast and lunch menus in the 2010-2011 school year that exceed the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Healthier US School Challenge Gold standards, distinguishing them as being among the healthiest in the country.
