08/30/2010 - Humpback whales feature in new television ads urging West Australians to keep Premier Colin Barnett to a promise to protect the Kimberley.
Environment groups have teamed up to launch the campaign to urge Mr Barnett to keep his promise "to preserve the most sensitive and most spectacular parts of the Kimberley forever".
Pew Environment Group spokesman John Carey said large protected areas had to be set aside if the premier was to keep his promise. "None of the Kimberley coastal waters are in protection - and less than 12 per cent of the region's land area is managed for conservation," he said.
