02/10/2010 - Mayor Nutter got a piece of good news for his re-election campaign yesterday: A majority of Philadelphians approve of the job he is doing, according to a new poll from The Pew Charitable Trusts.
The poll says that 53 percent of Philadelphians approve of Nutter's job performance as mayor, compared with 32 percent who disapprove. That's up from April, when a Pew poll showed Nutter with a 47 percent approval rating and 39 percent disapproval.
"Obviously, I'm pleased with the direction, but more pleased that the public is demonstrating an understanding of what kind of challenges we're facing," Nutter said.
"Mayor Nutter's numbers are quite solid, given all he's been through in the last two years," said Larry Eichel, director of the Pew's Philadelphia Research Initiative.
