01/04/2010 - Oregonians who want to vote on the pair of tax measures in this month's election have until tomorrow to register. Registering is free, but a recent study outlines the cost to taxpayers to maintain a voter database.
The Pew Center on the States examined the cost of registering voters in Oregon. The results surprised the center's John Lindback, who was Oregon's elections director until earlier this year.
Lindback says it costs local, state and federal governments a combined $4.51 a year to maintain each voter's registration.
