05/14/2009 - Some critics of the Treasury Department’s $700 billion bailout plan for the banks contend that the bulk of the aid is flowing to big Wall Street banks headquartered in financial hubs and not necessarily to Main Street U.S.A.

On Wednesday, the Treasury Secretary, Timothy F. Geithner, appeared to acknowledge the importance of smaller banks, announcing that he would give those with less than $500 million in deposits another chance to access TARP funds.

With such issues in the air, Subsidyscope, a Web site started by The Pew Charitable Trusts, has done an interesting, interactive analysis of how the TARP funds were distributed throughout the country.
