Panel Discussion: The Future of Arts Journalism


03/12/2009 - On Thursday, March 12, Christie’s Auction House President Marc Porter and Toby Usnik, international head of corporate communications, hosted a panel discussion on the future of arts journalism at Christie’s in Rockefeller Plaza, New York City. Panelists discussed the current landscape for arts publications, what the future of arts journalism might look like and whether or not online media is the way of the future.

Panelists included:

  • Marian A. Godfrey, Senior Director, Culture Initiatives, The Pew Charitable Trusts;
  • Sam Sifton, Cultural News Editor, The New York Times; and
  • Alisa Solomon, Director, Arts & Culture, M.A. Program, Columbia University School of Journalism. 
Sree Sreenivasan, Technology Reporter and Dean of Student Affairs, Columbia University, Graduate School of Journalism, moderated the discussion.
