An International Environmental Lobby Says Australian Governments Need to Do as the United States Has Done and Establish More Marine Parks

03/02/2009 - The Pew Environment Group wants Australia's federal and state governments to follow the lead of the US which it says recently set aside more than 500,000 square kilometres of waters as marine reserves.

The group says less than 1 per cent of Australia's waters are protected.

Michelle Grady from Pew says 90 per cent of the plants and animals found off WA's coast are found nowhere else in the world.
