05/16/2008 - Rochester will be the latest community in the nation to embrace a community-bank alliance aimed at extending banking services to the underserved.
"We will be a beta site. We will support this fully," Mayor Robert Duffy said at a kick-off gathering Thursday, sponsored by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. at the Central Library. The event drew about 70 people, including city government staff and representatives of local banks and credit unions, housing agencies and community organizations.
