Pew Report Calls Phila. City Council Well-Paid and Well-Staffed

02/07/2011 - As a group, Philadelphia City Council members have held office longer than those on just about any other city council in the country.

They also have spent more years on the job than the members of any other City Council here in the last six decades.


Philadelphia's City Council is among the most expensive urban legislative bodies of 15 studied in a Pew Charitable Trusts report released Wednesday. Each Council seat costs about $1.1 million in salaries, benefits, and other expenses for members and staffs.
