'Free Speech: Jim Lehrer with Ben Bradlee'

06/01/2006 - FREE SPEECH: Jim Lehrer with Ben Bradlee debuts on PBS on Monday evening, June 19.  The one hour special program explores journalism through the eyes and experiences of one of America's most respected newspaper editors.

Ben Bradlee – irreverent, charismatic, and in a league of his own – has played a key role in some of journalism’s landmark events, including coverage of the Watergate scandal and the recent revelation of the identity of “Deep Throat.”

Against the background of Bradlee’s amazing career, Jim Lehrer and Ben Bradlee take a candid and often witty look at current issues facing journalism, such as: anonymous sources; integrity and balance; professional malfeasance and correcting mistakes; the decline of respect currently facing journalism and how to regain the public’s trust.
