PROFILE

Wes Kim leads efforts to spur the innovation of new antibiotics for Pew’s antibiotic resistance project. His work focuses on research and policies that will help to advance antibiotic discovery and development.

Before joining Pew, Kim was a management consultant in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry, advising clients on research and development strategy and operations, with a focus on infectious diseases. His clients included multinational companies, philanthropic and donor organizations, U.S. government agencies, and nongovernmental organizations. Before that, he was a scientist at a biotech startup, where he led development of a diagnostic kit for breast cancer.

Kim has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and religion from Oberlin College, a master’s in business administration from the University of Maryland, and a doctorate in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Maryland.
