Energy is a key pillar of our lives; it runs our cars, charges our computers, and powers our factories. Globally, energy use is expected to increase 35 percent over the next 25 years, and the search for oil is reaching into ever more remote corners of the world, including the Arctic.  But a balanced approach is possible. Clean energy investments by government and businesses can create not just jobs but whole new industries, and Arctic-specific drilling standards in the extreme and vulnerable Arctic Ocean can provide regulatory certainty for the industry and ensure protection of the marine ecosystem. Pew works to raise awareness about the growing clean energy sector and the need for standards to guide responsible energy development.
