Effective sentencing and corrections reform requires leadership at the highest levels of government and from key stakeholders. Over the past few years, the public safety performance project has talked with some of the leaders who have played critical roles in advancing reforms in their states. Summarized in this collection are their motivations for engaging the issue, how they overcame opposition, and what’s needed to keep progress going.
