Matt Vasilogambros writes about immigration and voting rights for Stateline. Before joining Pew, he was a writer and editor at The Atlantic, where he covered national politics and changing demographics. Previously, he was the lead reporter on income inequality at National Journal, having spent years covering the White House, elections and foreign policy. He has also written for Outside, and appeared on NPR and MSNBC. In 2017, he completed the 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. He is a cum laude graduate of Drake University, where he served as the award-winning editor of the student newspaper. He is a native of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and currently lives in Washington, D.C.
