2 Pew Scholars Receive NIH Support for Collaborative Research

Pew scholars at the University of Delaware will receive support from the National Institutes of Health’s Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence program, which promotes collaborative, interactive efforts by establishing centers for researchers with complementary skill sets.

Led by chemistry and biochemistry professor Joseph M. Fox, Pew scholars April M. Kloxin (2013) and Catherine L. Grimes (2014) will conduct research on Huntington’s and Crohn’s diseases, respectively. Their projects are among five supported by the grant, with the collective goal of identifying key molecules for drug discovery.

“These projects are tied together under the concept of molecular discovery to improve human health. Through this center, we will be discovering new molecules that can be used to study, and ultimately to treat, human disease,” said Fox.
