The Evergreen State’s motto, “Hope for the future,” is a fitting description for a state whose skyline features the Space Needle and whose economy is based largely on software, aerospace engineering and manufacturing, and clean energy.   Washington’s elections are conducted entirely  by mail, making it easy for voters to register and vote. The state also has some of the nation’s highest peaks and vast stretches of old-growth forests;  Pew is working to protect 126,000 acres of ancient and mature forests on the Olympic Peninsula as wilderness.
