Interior Secretary Sally Jewell joined New Mexico Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich in January to explore southern New Mexico's Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks area. At a public forum, she heard from the community about protecting it as a national monument. Pew's U.S. Public Lands director Mike Matz expresses his gratitude for the Secretary's attention to this crucial land.
