Re: Public Hearing Comments on Amendment 18A to the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council's Snapper Grouper Fishery Management Plan
On behalf of the Pew Environment Group, Sera Harold Drevenak and Holly Binns, offered comments on the development of measures to rebuild and improve the black sea bass fishery. The constant fishing rate (F) rebuilding plan, a spawning season closure, and data collection improvements are all positive steps that should help the species recover to a sustainable level. However, there are elements of the black sea bass rebuilding plan that may impede efforts to rebuild the stock, and we urge the Council to remedy these alternatives.
