Video: Shark Hope
As part of our community-based conservation efforts in Fiji, the Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) and its field staff and partners worked with a local production company to produce "Shark Hope."
Told from a uniquely Fijian perspective, the stories and imagery used in this educational film are a reflection of the local community's rich traditions and cultural identity. The film documents the plight of Fiji's sharks and efforts to protect them. It chronicles the importance of sharks to Fiji's culture through myths and stories, as well as the critical role they play in maintaining a healthy marine environment.
"Shark Hope" features High Chief Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu and Sharkman Ratu Manoa Rasigatale, a Fijian cultural icon, former senator, and reality television personality. To learn more about the exciting shark sanctuary campaign underway in Fiji, visit www.coral.org/fijisharks.
