Postcard: Fishermen Call on Pacific Fishery Management Council to Protect the Bait

A booming global aquaculture industry is increasing demand for converting wild-caught forage fish into feed for farmed fish. But removing forage fish comes at a cost to productive marine ecosystems. That's why commercial fishermen on the Pacific coast are asking fishery managers to protect the prey base for wild salmon, tuna, and groundfish before allowing the lifeblood of a healthy ocean to seep away as low-grade feed for fish farms.
