Testimony of Holly Binns before the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council Regarding Red Snapper, Dec. 2010

We are cautiously optimistic that based on the new assessment and early indications that the moratorium is reducing encounters and effort, that the Council will end red snapper overfishing. We have continuously urged the Council not to pursue a particular result, but rather to follow the science. We are encouraged to see the Council and the Science Center demonstrate confidence in utilizing the MRIP / MRFSS data as the basis for adaptive management.
