Testimony of Chad W. Hanson before the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Sept. 2010

Regionalizing red drum management may have some biological justification, but the existing data is designed to monitor the fishery coast-wide. If red drum management is split into four regions, the existing information loses statistical power and becomes much more uncertain. Thus, careful regional management would require a substantial increase in sampling effort in order to reduce this uncertainty and increase the statistical power.
