Letter to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Regarding Federal Gulf Grouper and Red Snapper Regulations

Consistent federal and state regulations are designed to minimize fishing mortality and are important to bring gag and red snapper populations to more sustainable levels. They also enable easier monitoring and more effective enforcement while minimizing confusion for the fishing public. Because nearly all of the gag and much of the red snapper landings occur off the coast of Florida, the FWC has a particularly important role in the management of these species.
