Pew Trusts Awards Operating Grants to 12 Cultural Groups

The Clay Studio, Taller Puertorriqueno and the University of Pennsylvania's Morris Arboretum are just three of the 12 arts and culture organizations awarded more than $6.6 million in general operating support by The Pew Charitable Trusts. Other recipients include the Philadelphia Museum of Art, InterAct Theatre Company and the Philadelphia Zoo.

These grants were awarded recently under the Trusts' annual Philadelphia Cultural Leadership Program (PCLP), an initiative open to nonprofit arts and cultural groups in the five-county area. The Philadelphia Cultural Leadership Program rewards organizations for excellence in their operations, fiscal management and programming. PCLP's goal is to stimulate leadership and best practices for cultural institutions to help them provide the public with high quality arts and cultural activities on a sustained basis.

Organizations in this round of the Philadelphia Cultural Leadership Program receive grants ranging from $48,000 to $2,160,000. All grants are distributed over three years. Since the beginning of the Philadelphia Cultural Leadership Program in 1997, more than $43 million has been awarded to 53 arts and cultural groups in the metropolitan region.

The Pew Charitable Trusts serves the public interest by providing information, policy solutions and support for civic life.
