The Voting Information Project—Plans for 2015

The Voting Information Project (VIP) is looking forward to a busy and productive year in 2015. The project will support a number of elections and assist states in automating the delivery of official data to increase its availability for more elections, from statewide contests to municipal races; and convene a group of election officials to provide feedback and guidance for its work.

To support automated data delivery and improved data quality, VIP is building a comprehensive processing system that will check for problems and provide feedback to election officials, enabling states to quickly and more easily identify and correct errors and make information available to the public. In addition, states will have the ability to automatically transmit election data to VIP.

The project has also started work with three states—California, Ohio, and West Virginia—to obtain polling place and ballot information for local elections, which has not historically been available through VIP. Project staff is helping states automate the collection of these data. VIP will add several more states to this effort throughout 2015 and welcomes other interested states to participate.

As VIP works to improve the quality and availability of election data, it will continue to rely on its state partnerships. Any election official interested in learning more about the project, or in assistance from VIP, can reach the team at [email protected].

VIP Plans to Support at Least 30 Elections in 2015
