Pew Applauds U.S. Bureau of Land Management

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, The Pew Charitable Trusts and several partner organizations sent a thank-you letter to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, praising the agency for its responses to citizen input on inventories of lands with wilderness characteristics in the Colorado River Valley, Colorado and HiLine, Montana Field Offices.

The letter recognizes those responses as exemplary, and cites the amended inventories as templates for how the agency should conduct its wilderness characteristics surveys system-wide. The letter goes on to urge the agency to increase its commitment to conduct thorough inventories of wilderness characteristics in advance of the land use planning process.
