Henry B. Bernstein

Managing Director, Finance and Treasurer

Henry B. Bernstein came to Pew in 1991 with an extensive background in accounting and finance. Before his promotion to managing director, Finance, he served the organization in a succession of increasingly responsible roles, including grants manager, manager of grants financial operations and tax planning, and chief financial officer.

Prior to his work at Pew, Mr. Bernstein served for 10 years as a health care consultant at Laventhol and Horwath, a national accounting firm. A certified public accountant, he holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, Mr. Bernstein has more than two decades of experience as an active volunteer on the boards and finance committees of several nonprofit organizations.

Mr. Bernstein  manages all operations associated with Pew’s growing and increasingly complex budgets, cash management and financial review process. This includes oversight of the accounting, agenda coordination, program financial services and proposal coordination units.
