Sarah Sattelmeyer manages Pew’s student borrower success project, including overseeing research, advocacy, communications, and outreach. The initiative promotes successful repayment of student loans, especially among borrowers at greatest risk for delinquency and default. Previously, she served on Pew’s financial security and mobility project, assessing the relationship between short-term financial security and longer-term economic mobility, and on Pew’s economic mobility project, encouraging debate on how to improve opportunity in America.

Before joining Pew, Sattelmeyer was a fellow at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families, where she helped design and manage projects related to family self-sufficiency and stability. She also worked for the Kaiser Family Foundation, the Urban Institute, the California Department of Health Care Services, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Sattelmeyer holds bachelor’s degrees in English and biology from the University of Georgia and master’s degrees in public policy and public health from the University of California, Berkeley.
